For the love of blogs - episode 16
Yes, it is I, and I am back after managing to survive the dreaded 6-week summer holidays and boy did it feel like it would never end!!! No more bickering, no more constant snacking and no more “I’m bored” every two minutes, and that was just Shaun – result!!! The downside is no more lying in a darkened room and children bringing me copious amounts of gin and it is the first time I have been sobber in weeks!!! Next someone will be telling me it will soon be Christmas – doh, I said the “C” word already and its only early September. I better get on with this blog….
Summer has been a quiet time for CTS but that is not entirely unusual due to school holidays, and this has resulted in having to put up with “him indoors” making the house look untidy and he was subsequently banished to his office for most of it. Whilst in there, he had a brainwave (yes there is a brain in that big head of his) to create some A4 Paramedic Pouches as well as smaller A5 Medic Pouches and to be fair they are extremely good and have been and continue to be very popular. If anyone would like to purchase a set or three of these, then they are available to buy from various outlets, including the website and eBay and these can be tailored to your exact requirements.
Whilst I am currently creating this stunning masterpiece, I am working at the beautiful Kirkstall Abbey where the Leeds Beer Festival is taking place. Being surrounded by beer and lots of delicious food is not helping my diet, but the most disappointing part is not being able to try any of the numerous beers on offer - only another five or so hours to go!!!!
Harry and Jen, our Paramedics, have been working on our latest Understanding Prehospital Maternity and Newborn Care course. If, like us, your worst nightmare is a pregnant lady suddenly going into labour, then this is the course for you. The course covers normal and complicated births through to how to care for the mother and newborn baby. We can now officially announce that this new course is taking place at our training room near Leeds on the 16th & 17th March 2026 and spaces are already limited, so book now to avoid disappointment. A few weeks ago, we managed to produce a promotional video for this new course with the help of Lewis, who oversaw filming and editing of the finished product, and he did a fantastic job. Everyone got involved, even Shaun and I, and I am sure it will be nominated for a Bafta or even better an Oscar next year, so watch this space!!! If you would like more information about this bespoke course or in fact any of our other courses, please look on the website or contact us by email or phone. We are a friendly bunch and believe it or not, are human and not AI generated.
Speaking of Harry, as well as being an excellent Paramedic, he will not mind me saying this, but he is a coffee geek. What this man does not know about coffee, well, quite frankly, is not worth knowing. Due to his love of all thing’s coffee, he has written an “Appreciating Coffee “course, no, it is not April Fool’s Day, and he is hoping to run one of these in the not-too-distant future. Due to CTS’s copyright law, Harry is unable to use the word “Understanding” in this course title plus it does not sit right with our other courses in this range – heart, breathing, maternity, and coffee!!! Having said that, Harry will no doubt be able to argue there is a connection between them all. I have no idea what the cost will be, what the content will be, other than here’s some coffee, here’s some hot water, and voila, coffee made – well, that’s the level of my coffee-making skills or better still, a visit to your local Costa or Coffee Boy in our case – other well-known coffee shops are available. All I can say is watch this space.
Other news is that we are on the hunt for our own premises. This conversation came about when a unit, which is down the road from our house, was found to be empty and available to rent. After what felt like hundreds of phone calls made to the Council and eventually speaking to someone, we did manage to have a look at the unit. It is perfect for what we need, it just needs some cleaning, painting, and general maintenance and then we would be good to go. Sadly, the Council do not seem to share the same urgency as us and we are still waiting to see what happens next. I will keep my many regular readers, all four of you, posted should anything significant happen between now and Christmas 2026.
Right, that’s enough from me as I am going to have a little walk around this Beer Festival and make myself feel even more depressed looking at everyone drinking beer, having fun and eating sourdough pizza, knowing all I have to look forward to is a salad and some flavoured water!!! Having said that, I will keep thinking of the money I have earned and then laugh at the money everyone else has spent and the hangover they are going to have in the morning!!! Until next time……
Si’thi later
